District 4 is located in the Twin Peaks West portion of San Francisco. Neighborhoods in this district include: Balboa Terrace, Diamond Heights, Forest Hill, Forest Knolls, Ingleside Terrace, Midtown Terrace, St. Francis Wood, Miraloma Park, Sherwood Forest, Monterey Heights, Mount Davidson Manor, Westwood Highlands, Westwood Park, Sunnyside, and West Portal.
On a foggy night, watching the lights of the city below, and listening to the mournful toll of the fog horns, it’s easy to believe you are standing on the bow of a ship in the middle of the ocean, though you are nearly at the geographic center of San Francisco. The district is known for its quiet, curving streets leading to homes offering unobstructed views of the city below. The neighborhoods are largely residential, with single-family homes making up the bulk of the available housing.
