Perched at the crossroads of Mission and South Van Ness Avenue, 1601 Mission Street commands a unique triangular parcel within The Hub—an evolving neighborhood that harmoniously integrates San Francisco's multifaceted districts. This 12-story architectural marvel encompasses 220 residential units and boasts approximately 7,000 sq. ft. of retail space, crafting a dynamic urban haven in a prime location.
The project's massing was ingeniously crafted, sculpting a block-like structure to optimize window placement and enhance floor efficiency. Comprising a harmonious blend of floor-to-ceiling glass window systems and terracotta-hued metal panels, the design draws inspiration from the industrial heritage of the site's southern surroundings.
Central to the development is a pedestrian passage thoughtfully positioned within the site, artfully linking the prominent thoroughfares that define the building's periphery. This bustling passage, adorned with inviting retail spaces, not only connects and enlivens the surroundings but also serves as a conduit to the residential lobby. As an added flourish, the design seamlessly incorporates space for public art within this engaging passageway, elevating it to a destination in its own right.
